HOMEWORK
We recognize the importance to our students of having down time to play, relax, and spend time with family and friends. We also recognize the realities coming up next year in middle school and want to help your child develop the responsibility of understanding what needs to be completed for homework, gathering the materials at school to complete assignments, then completing and returning the work to school the next day. Homework should never feel excessive and will always be a meaningful and relevant complement to our classwork.
Students in the compacted math class can expect to have homework most days of the week.
Students are expected to read at home for 20 minutes most days of the week. I won't assign homework unless absolutely necessary; I don't assign busy work. Also, if students aren't working efficiently in class, they may need to take home classwork to finish for homework.
If your child is struggling with homework, please let me know. We can work together to find a solution that works best for him/her.
